Review : "Thappana"

Johny Antony directed "Thappana" offers nothing new exciting on the board, Scenarist works out the same odd things in the script that may easily suits to a superstar like Mammookka. Script charged up in the first half and on the same pace it downs in the second half. If you wanna watch this malayalam film "Thappana", then don't go with much expectations.......

"Thappana" starts off with Samson (Mammootty) and Mallika (Charmy) released from the jail. Samson is a small time criminal and jail term is not new for him, On the other side Mallika is sentenced to prison for killing someone to save her husband. After the jail term, Samson develops some soft corner for
Mallika. Some strange incidents led Samson to escort Mallika to her home safely.

When Samkutty and Mallika reach the destination, they came to know about the real face of Mallika's husband Kannukuttan played by Murali Gopy, who's having an affair with neighbour's wife and now living with her comfortably. Now Mallika feels estranged and ask Samkutty to stay back with her to seek revenge from his husband, which paced up to the climax of "Thappana".

Watch out for Mammookka's performance, He pulls it off the character pretty easily and sometimes with his rib tickling comic sense. Charmy supports her character nicely and the baddie Murali Gopy carries the real act. Vijaya Raghavan, Vijesh, Mala Aravindan, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Suresh Krishna, Anil Murali and others played their parts to the characters.

M.Sindhuraj's script lacks the depth of having possibilities to innovate new dimension to the story and it looks totally out of focus. Director Johny Antony still continuing with his old style format, which may not suits to every occasion, especially when you have the big star like Mammookka. Ranjan Abhraham's editing and Rajrathnam's cinematography works out well. Vidyasagar tuned the songs that get fit in the situation, nothing else. Galaxy Films Banner, Milan Jaleel is the producer of this malayalam movie "Thappana".
