Review : "God For Sale - Bhakthi Prasthanam"

The plot here has the genuineness and it has relevance with today's scenario, how some people would try to spread the religious discrepancies throughout the civil society. Babu Janardhanan conveyed this story in a satirical way, but the unpleasant here is the narration downplay the whole attempt. Impact was less, but some performances especially of Suraaj Venjharamoodu was watchable, while on the verdict we leave it on our visitors.......

Starts off with the arrest of Poornanda Swami (Kunchako Boban), who's facing the charge of murdering a boy to appease
the god. Now the focus shifts to the 70' and then to 90's to know more about how Prasannan Nair became the Godman Poornanda Swami. This flashback mode unveiled by his handicapped elder brother Bhaskaran (Suraaj Venjharamoodu). Prasannan Nair had his childhood in difficulties accustomed by his father Kamalasanan Pillai (Suraaj Venjharamoodu), found dead in a mysterious circumstances after leading his distressful life.

Prasannan Nair is now grown up being a RSS karsevak and works as a construction labour, there he finds his ladylove (Jyothi Krishna) in the village, who follows the communism. In his law study, when he get into the contact with wealthy girl played by Anumol led to the confrontations of his ideology. Then his move to the Christianity and how the series of events transform the life of Prasannan Nair, forms the story to the climax.

Here's the problem in the making is story telling look subdued, may be due to lot of categorization of Prasannan's life. Director and writer Babu Janardhanan certainly deserves the applause for the subject, but the things look implausible that the way it communicates. In the technical department, the film lags a big, whether it is cinematography by Sinu Sidharth or editing by Sobhin K Soman, goes inadequate with their respective field. Afzal Yousuf's music sounds fine in parts with the lyrics of Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma.

As the movie revolves around Kunchako Boban, so he uses the most of his character by giving the best output. Chackochan displayed the brilliant effort in the second half, while the pick of the performance was Suraaj Venjharamoodu with his double role, stole the every inch of attention. Thilakan may be his last performance, stamped his unique presence. Jyothi Krishna, Anumol, Tini Tom and others have justified their respective characters. For the banner of Green Advertising, Saleem P T is the producer of this Malayalam movie "God For Sale Bhakthi Prasthanam".
