Musician and composer Reghu Kumar no more

Malayalam music director Reghu Kumar passes away
Prominent musician and composer of Malayalam cinema, Reghu Kumar passed away today (Feb.20) at around 2 AM. He was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after feeling unwell and since last week he had been under the treatment. He was 60 and survived by his wife Bhavani, who is a yesteryear actress and his two daughters Bhavana and Bhavitha.

 The funeral will take place on tomorrow at Vasanth Nagar crematorium. Malayalees
can never forget his melodious songs in the movies like "Thalavattam", "Shyama", "Hello My Dear Wrong Number", "Boeing Boeing", "Maya Mayuram", "Kannakkinavu". Reghu Kumar born in well known family of Kozhikode in Kerala, began his journey of music at tender age of 15.

 He was considered as one of the past master in Tabla, Sitar, Percussion, Keyboards and other musical instruments. His entry to films had came through as assistant to musician R K Shekhar (A R Rahman's father). After working as assistant in many movies, his first break as independent music director came in 1981 with the movie "Visham". Later he composed music for many movies like "Onnanam Kunnil Oradikkunnil", "Aram Plus Aram Kinnaram", "Pavam Poornima", "Cheppu", "Aryan" and others.

 His last movie was 2011 released Malayalam movie "Collector", starring Suresh Gopi, Nedumudi Venu, Mohini and others.
