Review : "Puthiya Theerangal"
With expectations from the sea, Sathyan Anthikad directed this malayalam movie "Puthiya Theerangal" is of the mixed flavour. As we mean it could be interesting for somebody or may be not for others, For the review "Puthiya Theerangal" is not match the satisfaction level of Sathyan Anthikad films. On this sea shore story, Sathyan Anthikad shift his ship to the old direction platform that reminds you of his recent released films. We won't argue on his direction, at last its your decision to watch it or not.....
"Puthiya Theerangal" leads you to the life of a girl named Thamara (Namitha Pramod), Stranded in the village near the sea shore. Twelve years ago, her father Shankaran's (Siddique) death led her to grew up all alone on the sea shore. Now Thamara is young and lives up her earnings as the only girl in the village to do the fish catching. Her friends include Mohanan (Nivin Pauly), who wants to become a teacher, but couldn't and circumstances
led him to fisherman, then there is Appachan (Sidharth Shiva), who acts in stages and hope to become a actor. One more guy in this friendship is Sharangan (Dharmajan), loves to do the fishing.
In this process for while, Thamara finds an old man drowning in the sea and she save him with the help of others and take him to the hospital. After the treatment of Old man, Thamara bring him to her house and that sort of begins the father and daughter bonding between the two. Mystery surrounds the existence of this old man named K.P.(Nedumudi Venu) in the life of Thamara, who treat K.P. like her real father that leads you to the climax, which sense out the posibilities of "Puthiya Theerangal".
Things are under control with the first half, then after this the ship has gone with the wind. Benny P.Nayarambalam script could be more impressive especially in the second half and more on that with the climax. Nothing too much new in the script as per expected with the backdrop of sea shore, while Sathyan Anthikad continued on his direction that he leaved in his past few films that may target the family audience better. Namitha Pramod turns out to be the surprise package as she stole the scenes with her charming character and made a perfect debut, Nivin Pauly needs to work hard to get out of the image of cute boy, while Nedumudi Venu brings on as usual. KPAC Lalitha, Innocent, Mallika, Dharmajan, Sidharth Shiva and others just up to the characters.
On the technical aspects, Venu bring on some good visuals with his cinematography especially on the locations of Alappuzha beach. K.Rajagopal's editing looks fine and Music feels same as past few films of Sathyan with the touch of Illayaraja and Kaithapram. For the banner of Ann Mega Media, Anto Joseph is the producer of this malayalam movie "Puthiya Theerangal".

സംവിധായകനായത് ഏറ്റവും അധികം ബാധിച്ചത് സത്യന് അന്തിക്കാട് എന്നാ സംവിധായകനെയാണ്.. നാട്ടിന്പുറത്തെ നന്മയും തമാശകളും ശ്രീനിവാസന് സത്യന് ലാല് കൂട്ടുകെട്ടില് പിറന്നുവെങ്കില് ഇന്ന് സത്യന് അന്തിക്കാട് എന്നാ സംവിധായകന് ഏറെ ഒറ്റക്കായി..സ്വന്തം തിരക്കതകളും സംവിധാനവുമായി പിച്ചവച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോഴാണ് അച്ഛന് മകന് ബന്ദം അമ്മ മകന് ആരോരുമില്ലാതെ ഒറ്റക്കായ സ്ത്രീ, മക്കളുണ്ടായിട്ടു ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ടു പോയവര് തുടങ്ങി സ്ഥിരം പല്ലവിയാണ് സത്യന് അന്തിക്കാട് എന്നാ വിമര്ശനം ചില ആളുകള് ഉന്നയിച്ചത്.ഇതില് നിന്ന് എങ്ങനെ കരകയരാമെന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് ദിലീപിനെ വച്ച് അത്യാവശ്യം കോമഡി സിനിമകളുമായി പ്രശസ്തിയിലേക്ക് ഉയരുന്ന ബെന്നി പി നായരമ്പലം എന്നാ തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തിനെ സത്യന് സര് കാണുന്നത്.അങ്ങനെയാണ് സ്വന്തമായി പ്രമേയം ദാരിദ്ര്യം അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന സത്യന് സര് നായരംബലതെ കൂട്ടുപിടിച്ച് ഒരു പുതിയ സിനിമ പ്ലാന് ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പുതിയ തിരക്കതാക്രിതും പുതിയ നടീനടന്മാരും ആയതുകൊണ്ട് സത്യന് സാറ് സിനിമയ്ക്ക് 'പുതിയ തീരങ്ങള്, എന്ന് പേരും നല്കി..
